I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor's degree in English and a teaching certificate. Since graduating, I have moved and received my Colorado teaching license, as well as a Special Education endorsement. During college, I tutored middle school and college students. I am currently a Special Education/English teacher at a facility that exclusively works with at-risk youth. I have also led several backpacking trips through Wyoming for teenagers. My passion lies in English, particularly writing, but that's not to say that I don't enjoy reading and analyzing a good book! I especially enjoy tutoring in English because I find English to be captivating for all individuals. Any person, regardless of reading level, background and experience, is capable of finding an affection for either reading or writing. When teaching and tutoring, I employ an experiential method as well as integrating cultural and social aspects into my lessons. I whole-heartedly enjoy relating the material to the students and enabling students to think about the bigger picture. In my spare time, I enjoy t rock climbing, camping, hiking and most anything outside. I also like to write creatively, paint, cook and travel.
