I received a Bachelor of Arts in Art with an emphasis in Studio Art, but I also followed the track for the Liberal Arts degree from San Diego State University. I had been working on a double art major at Fresno State University, but lost credits when I transferred. Recently I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from California State University, Sacramento and am currently finishing my Master’s degree. I have a lifetime passion for education as I am a lifelong learner and I have tutored students from Russia, Ukraine, Persia, India, Mexico, Vietnam, and Thailand. I was a volunteer tutor at a local non-profit and assisted young adults and adults work toward obtaining their GED. I have also worked with adult ELL clients on accent modification and English language proficiency, as well as ELL children. I enjoy learning about other cultures and have traveled to Mexico, Canada, France, Italy, Holland, and Belgium. I believe in making learning fun; current neuroscience research reveals our brains are able to grow new neurons at any age and that multimodal stimulation serves us best to remember new information. With this in mind, I also have experience and enjoy working with people of all ages who have learning disabilities, physical challenges, language delays, dyslexia, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, ASD, and those recovering from stroke, anoxic brain injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. I firmly believe we are all capable of learning new things in new ways and that in order to live a happy life we have to keep growing. I am always finding new interests for myself whether it’s about the plants and animals along the bike path I ride, new music I discover from my phone apps, books people recommend I read, or how to build a vertical garden for my small patio. I practice what I preach! I tutor
English, grammar and mechanics, writing, essay writing, literature, psychology, social sciences, reading, phonics, test preparation, study skills and more. I am compassionate, goofy at times, and I learn about each student so I can tailor my teaching to their learning style and personality.
