I'm currently in my last semester at the University of Georgia studying Spanish and Linguistics. I really love the language and it brings me much joy to see that passion grow in other students. I tutored native Spanish speakers in English subjects at a nonprofit called ALCES and realized that teaching is where it's at! I've also had the opportunity to translate for volunteers in Perú and Guatemala. I took on-level Spanish courses, AP Spanish and IB Spanish HL in high school, as well as countless college courses, so I'm fairly familiar with how our education system presents foreign language. I've seen what works and what doesn't and I realize that each student is different. As a tutor, I plan to first and foremost discover how a student thrives. I love to see my students rise to a challenge but I never want them to be discouraged.
On the other hand, I'm available for standardized test tutoring too! I took my fair share of tests and prep classes in high school. My teaching style is very similar to that of foreign language. I believe that preparation for these exams isn't necessarily learning new information but learning how to be tested on information that has already been taught. I also believe that anxiety and stress affect students' scores more than we realize. One way to overcome this is instilling confidence in a student. Sometimes our generation just needs a little extra push to reach our full potential.
I look forward to getting to know you, future students and parents!
