I've had extensive experience as an instructor with the Newport-Mesa Unified School District at BESST Center and Whittier Adult Schools in Costa Mesa, CA. In that capacity, I utilized SmartBoard technology daily with class sizes of up to thirty mostly Spanish-speaking adult students? I re-arranged classroom seating in a semi-circle to facilitate easier dialogue between students? created weekly posting of top ten to fifteen students with the most hours of attendance? used “Funny Money” incentive system, rewarding various students for outstanding classroom achievement daily? utilized various TESOL games from free internet sites? used classroom textbook series: McGraw-Hill’s All-Star Series, as well as Azar’s Fundamentals of English Grammar and various other texts. Generally spent twelve to fifteen hours per week in classroom with eight to ten hours of prep time. In my Teacher Evaluations, my students usually described me as having a great sense of humor, something that I believe is absolutely essential to learning.
