I am a graduate from Washington University in St. Louis with a Biology major and a Ballet minor. I have experience tutoring a variety of subjects among diverse age groups. I spent two years working for a local non-profit in their youth development program; I collaborated with staff to organize and implement literacy and math programs designed for inner city youth (ages 9-13) who performed academically below grade level. Throughout college I attended peer-led tutoring sessions for Calculus and upper-level science courses. In these sessions, I simultaneously taught and learned from my peers regarding challenging concepts found in problem sets, lecture material, and past exams. I also have experience tutoring high school youth in a wide variety of subjects (Spanish, English, Life Sciences, Math (Algebra through Calculus II)). As a student of Drama and Dance, I believe strongly that confidence is key to a successful stage performance. My goal is to instill confidence in my students as they tackle challenging coursework, to work with my students to think critically about the ways in which they learn, and to identify how those learning methods can be applied in tutoring sessions as well as in everyday life.
