For more than a decade now, I have taught or tutored numerous subjects to students of all ages. Some highlights include teaching US history to high school students, tutoring writing to college students, and getting the opportunity to live abroad in Seoul, South Korea where I taught ESL, test prep, history, and English literature.
Through my experiences, I have learned that tutoring is a collaborative process. The way I learn may be different to the way you learn, so it's essential to appreciate people's learning differences. With that in mind I try my best to accommodate each of my students accordingly. Rather than tutoring every student the same way, I want to find out what you think your strengths and weaknesses are. Maybe you're a great writer but still can't use a semicolon correctly, or perhaps you love the nuts and bolts of grammar but anxiety grips you as soon as you hear the words "five-paragraph essay." Whatever you're worried about, I will work WITH you to develop an approach that maximizes results and provides you with confidence in your abilities.
When I'm not tutoring or teaching, I pursue a wide variety of interests, including poetry writing, book reviewing, gardening, and coffee roasting.
