I graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Bioinformatics. I am currently studying Mobile Application Development and plan to build some apps before pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science. I have tutored since high school, mainly in quantitative subjects like Math, Physics, and Chemistry.
I like tutoring subjects with a good amount of problem solving because it is a skill that lasts a lifetime, is engaging to both the teacher and the student, and exemplifies my belief that it is the duty of a teacher to not only teach the subject, but to teach his or her students how to learn similar subjects in the future. My tutoring style is to involve the student as much as possible, because it allows them to learn about themselves; metacognition is a common skill that many students lack, and is partially a reason many of them struggle in a subject. My teaching philosophies can be summed up with the proverb: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".
Sports are a big interest for me, especially golfing and football. Other hobbies and interests include video games, food/cooking, and movies.
