The insight I acquired in college has allowed me to become a dedicated university instructor, and a successful academic who is ready to further broaden his horizon by educating the next generation of students. I chose to tutor because it’s a creative endeavor that engages my mind and heart. I try to keep my sessions fun and lively yet intense and rigorous.
For the past four summers I have dedicated myself to working with children ages 7 – 17 at River Way Ranch Camp, a summer sleep away camp. Under the alias of “Digit” I not only took care of children 24/7 but also recognized as the nerdy counselor. This is because, on any typical day I would teach the children about science, mathematics, literature in a fun and fascination way. Learning shouldn’t be a chore, like washing windows or taking out the garbage, but like an adventure into an enchanted and undiscovered world.
Nevertheless, I do have teaching and tutoring experience. For the past five years I have served as a mathematics and economics tutor at Long Beach States Learning Assistance Center. Here I experienced how to engage learners with a variety of strengths and needs. As a University Instructor I specialized in the techniques of teaching Calculus & Statistics in order to help students enthusiastically achieve comfort, appreciation and high scores in those classes. Many see math only as a rigid, one-way science for left-brain thinkers. However, I have found that it takes an artistic, right-brain creativity to embrace the beauty of mathematics. What it boils down to is that math was not meant for only half of the population to enjoy, but rather the whole. This is what has lead me to help serve you children.
