I got my education at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, where I attained a BS in Material Science and Engineering. I am currently working on a Master's degree in Computer Science. I have four years of experience tutoring elementary students and have tutored 1st to 9th grade English, Math, and Science and test prep for SAT and GRE Math and the Chinese Subject test. I don't prefer any subject over another. I just enjoy working out problems with students. I truly believe that any student can excel in whatever they learn. They might just need a little help and guidance in figuring out the subject, and that is where I come in. During my free time, I like to play with jigsaw puzzles, read and watch TV. I am really patient with students, and I like to make sure they fully understand the material.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that every student is different and has different needs. I will try my best to accommodate those needs.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Learn more about their personality and past experiences. Try to figure out a plan of how the rest of the tutoring sessions will go.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Let them do most of their work and offer help on the side.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Try to explain the concept in another way.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Read the passage slowly with them.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Knowing their learning style is very important.
