I am currently a senior at Wayne State University, set to graduate in the spring of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Honors and a co-major in University Honors. I will be starting medical school in early August. In the past, I worked as a summer school tutor for the Saginaw Township Community Schools District, where I worked with middle and high school students in mathematics, social studies, and science. I also volunteered as a tutor at Young Detroit Builders, a GED-preparation program.
I tutor mathematics up to Algebra II, all sections of the ACT, US Government, US History, Politics, Biology, English/Reading, Literature, and GED Preparation. I also help students edit essays, papers, and college applications. My favorite subjects to tutor are ACT test preparation and biology. I enjoy the critical thinking aspects of ACT test preparation and look forward to sharing my tips, knowledge, and experience with my students.
My teaching philosophy is comprised of three chronological steps: identify any and all issues, review methodology and problem context, and devise and apply the correct solution. I also emphasize the importance of consistent practice when it comes to test preparation and applied concepts such as physics and mathematics.
My personal interests and hobbies include reading and travelling. I am also interested in medical research and volunteer as a student researcher in a lab studying the use of MRI in the early detection of diabetic retinopathy.
