I am a recent graduate of Stony Brook University with my Masters in Teaching and hold a NYS Certification in English Grades 7-12. I worked as a Student Teacher at William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach and JFK Middle School in Port Jefferson Station. Though my certification and student teaching experiences were with Grades 7 and up, I also have experience with younger children. I spent my summer working for a private Summer Reading program where I worked on Reading Development with students ages 4 through adult. I am familiar with all stages of the reading process, from letter recognition for entering kindergartners to speed reading for adults. Through the reading program, I worked not only on Long Island but in Queens and the Bronx. When I was younger, a high school student myself, I worked with my school district to tutor students in an alternative high school working towards their GED. I am most passionate about Literature, writing, and helping students achieve their goals. I believe that everyone deserves an education despite their background and that every student should have the opportunity to go to college and beyond.
