I really enjoy working with young people, helping them to reach their course and test goals, and to
approach their personal bests. In 25+ years of public & private teaching experience, in middle and high school, I've taught Reading, Math, Creative Writing, Ancient, World & US History, English, Science, Anthropology, ESL and Sociology. Tutoring subjects include Algebra, Geometry, English, Latin, History, Pre-Calculus, Economics, and Test Prep for the SAT, ACT, & SSAT/ISEE.
My tutoring approach involves setting high expectations, caring, individualizing, understanding the
student's strengths and weaknesses, and working with both student and family. I promote a light
and cheerful atmosphere, in which we can both work, and enjoy working together. There's encouragement; at the same time the student is challenged, e.g. to explain how that works.
