I graduated with Highest Honors and Distinction in the Major from UCSB where I majored in Biological Sciences, and a minored in Music. Here, I had the privilege of serving as a one of eight university biology tutors through the Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS) program. I taught biweekly sessions to individuals, and to classes of 25+ student groups, in addition to leading exam reviews to hundreds of students. I received evaluation comments from students including “the best tutor I’ve had so far”, “very clear and organized” and “makes us think in class”, suggesting the intellectually stimulating environment fostered in the sessions. My teaching method heavily emphasizes the Socratic method to stimulate active learning, and application type questions to facilitate solid conceptual understanding. I am confident in my abilities to tutor natural science and MCAT exam subjects and hope to share my passion and respect for learning, to excite students in their pursuit of science and to instill a positive learning environment. Currently, I am in medical school studying the convergence of biological sciences, problem solving and the human connection.
