After completing my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Long Island University, I began my career as a Math and Science teacher. I later went on to complete a MA in Teaching and Learning, Biology 7-12 from New York University and a Ph.D in Science Education from Columbia University. My experience working with students range from tutor and classroom teacher to curriculum and professional development for teachers across the United States. However my experience working as a tutor with students ranges from preparing K-8 students in NYS standardized test preparation, math, science, reading & writing and 7-12 students in Biology, Earth Science, Algebra, and NYS Regents test preparation. I enjoy math and science, especially Biology and Algebra, because they are applicable to our everyday lives. It is fulfilling to share a sense of accomplishment with a student when they discover and learn a new concept, that " glowing lightbulb" moment. I believe the teacher's role is to facilitate students' learning, by guiding them to take ownership of their learning through making their own discoveries and understanding of experiences, ideas and concepts. Outside of my role as an educator, I love to travel to different countries and continents to learn about different cultures.I have visited the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt and the Taj Mahal in Agra, India to name a few. My bucket list, to visit all of the Seven Wonders of the World. However, while I am here in NYC, I enjoy art exhibits, museums and walking the great outdoors.
