I’ve completed a Bachelor’s in Chemistry with a minor in mathematics from California State University, San Bernardino. I am the best fit for this position because I have the skills, experience, and energy required to complete anything successfully.
I recently had the opportunity to work within the laboratory of Dr. David Maynard on an ongoing endeavor between the departments of Chemistry and Anthropology department. I completed a project focused on identification of chemicals found within adhesives of Mayan and Aztec artifacts. The results of this project provided archaeologists and museum curators with detailed cultural, physical, and chemical data about ancient materials used by these older civilizations allowing them to understand the past levels of technical knowledge. This project required me to be able to operate various instruments such as the Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS) interments and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HCLP). In culmination of this project I designed and organized a poster and presentation entitled Unmasking the Mysteries of the Mosaics which resulted in earning first place in the 27th Annual Meeting of the Minds Competition in Undergraduates in college of Natural Sciences.
I have also worked in a biology laboratory with Alligators and Lizards. I demonstrated and learned many skills in the upkeep and handling of animal subjects. I performed such daily tasks as husbandry and tissue sample preparation as well as more technical tasks such as dissections and shell removal with damaging the fibrous member. Further, in this lab I was able to observe first hand intensive surgical procedure such as heart biopsies and learn great deal concerning the details of animal subjects in scientific researching.
I have also worked in Saint Bernadine’s Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente. I worked with patients in both hospitals but have also held high positions in on-campus clubs which have given me the ability to be a good leader. Thanks to these experiences I have become a great multi-tasker and a fast learner.
