I attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Grades 4-8, with concentrations in Mathematics and Social Studies. I am currently a sixth grade Teacher working with a diverse population. My favorite subject to tutor is Mathematics because simply put, Mathematics is everywhere, and a person’s job will require some form of Mathematical knowledge. I believe that students who develop this knowledge at a young age, are better equipped to be successful within their chosen career path. While attending college, I was a member of the National Association for Middle Level Education. Within this organization, I was able to pair college students with students at local elementary and middle schools for tutoring opportunities. I was a Tutor with the program for two years and I tutored students in Mathematics. My tutoring style is one which is comprised of explicit instruction, use of manipulatives, and use of real world applications that can assist in the formation of critical thinking skills. The most important part of the tutoring process is the trust between the Tutor and the client. They must know that we are working at whatever pace they set and that lessons will be designed to target their specific learning style. Outside of academia, my interests include film, dance, trivia, history, and dogs.
