I left high school early and began attending American River College at age 15, where I earned an A.A. in Languages and Literature. I used this degree to transfer to California State University, Sacramento, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English. Throughout my educational career and in my professional life, I have worked with a variety of students and I'm grateful for the experience that has shaped my personal teaching philosophy. Whether working with ESL students, children with special needs, or homeless adults taking remedial writing courses, I have learned that consistency and honesty are the essential groundwork for facilitating learning in any context. While I have tutored most subjects through the middle school level, I am most confident in areas of language, composition and rhetoric. I try to focus on the practical aspects of language, stressing its fundamental importance to a student's success and understanding in life.
