I received a BA in English and Theatre from Loyola University Chicago. During and after my time at the university I enjoyed informally helping others with writing assignments, as well as teaching theatre at the prestigious National High School Institute, and working as a teaching artist for American Theatre Company’s “Bridge” school outreach program. I tutor test preparation, elementary math, reading, and literature, but my favorite subject to tutor is essay writing and editing! As a writer myself, I enjoy helping budding writers develop their ability to express themselves clearly and articulately. To me, language is just plain fun.
As a tutor, I am all about conversation. I believe that the key to being a good tutor is having a strong relationship with students, understanding their needs, and building a student’s confidence along with his or her skills through positive reinforcement. I always try to maintain a fun and focused learning environment.
Outside of academia I enjoy my work as a freelance playwright and theatre director! I also like to sew clothes, ride my bicycle, and bake.
