I have a Bachelor's Degree in Art History from California State University Long Beach, and an Associate's Degree in Art from Cerritos College, Norwalk, CA. I took over three years of teacher education courses and passed the CBEST, CLAD, RICA, and Praxis/MSAT teacher education exams, each on the first attempt. I have worked as an educator in Washington state and California for about 20 years, including positions as college adult learning center aide, college writing lab aide, adult ESL2 instructor, middle school Special Education teacher (8 years), Special Education assistant (12 years to date), and private tutor (8 years to date). I currently work with public middle school students with severe multiple disabilities, as well as a wide variety of private tutoring clients ranging from early elementary school through college. For 10 years, I worked with high school students, many of whom had special needs, in a variety of courses. I am highly qualified and experienced tutoring students in English and math. I helped many students prepare for the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), and I have even adapted the online math practice test questions to a series of 12 PowerPoint lessons. I have also helped students prepare for the HSPT, ISEE, SAT, ACT, and CBEST exams. I agree with Einstein that "Creativity is more important than knowledge." Creativity is what changes the world, while knowledge is what preserves it. But, truly, knowledge is power, because it gives the educated person tools to solve problems as they arise from an unpredictable future. You may never use what you learn, but if you do not learn it, you will never have the opportunity to use it should the need arise. I assure you that I take my role as a professional educator very seriously.
