The powerful thing about tutoring is empowering others. I spent the last year as a middle school teacher, teaching Fine Arts, Latin language, and English vocabulary and grammar mechanics. During that time, I privately tutored a number of my students who needed special attention in my subject areas. I make a great tutor because I am extremely adaptable to different learning styles, and my philosophy is that students must reinforce the fundamental building blocks of the language if they are to grasp the more difficult concepts. I know also from my own students that a good tutor can change a student's entire attitude towards education. I do not believe that any kids truly hate school; what they hate is feeling as if they have no power over their studies. By being a tutor, I am able to work with students individually, giving the students the time, space, and expertise they need to feel confident in their subjects and knowledge.
