As a lifelong learner and an experienced Teacher, I am passionate about helping students to succeed. I have worked with students from Kindergarten to college, in a variety of subjects. I really enjoy tutoring Phonics, English Literature, and Writing. I like to see students develop a love for language and start to make connections between the texts that they read and their own lives.
I earned my B.A. from Colorado College, graduating magna cum laude; Sociology was my major and Art History was my minor. After graduating, I spent two years working with scholars in a high-performing Denver elementary school. I am currently applying to graduate programs in Social Work, Public Health & Public Policy, and Journalism.
Outside of academics, I love running hiking, snowshoeing, dog-walking, art, and traveling. I am always seeking new adventures and stories from other places and people. On a typical Sunday afternoon, you can find me drinking tea, listening to This American Life, or sketching a portrait of one of my friends.
My teaching philosophy is simple: Education is at its best when learning feels useful, engaging, and empowering. Assignments and information should be manageable and interesting. As a Tutor, I am calm, thoughtful, and encouraging. I like to ask my students a lot of questions, find out what motivates them, and what makes them feel inspired.
