I have over ten years of experience as a teacher for preschool through college age students, which has given me the ability to effectively assess and adapt my instruction to the needs of each individual. I am trained as a tutor with a strong understanding of a range of subjects, including College Algebra, Mathematical Logic, English grammar and composition, Public Speaking, Science, and History. Math, from Elementary through Pre-Calculus is my favorite subject to teach. I get really excited when a new student says to me, 'I just can’t do Math,' because I know that I will have the opportunity to prove to them that they are capable; understanding and becoming proficient, even enjoying Math is completely within their grasp.

I teach because I enjoy working with my students as well as the subjects I teach. My warm and friendly personality as well as my insatiable curiosity and interest in learning have been a valuable asset to me as a teacher and as a mother. My experience with gifted and challenged students of all varieties and abilities, as well as my own positive experience with overcoming learning challenges and achieving high honors in college, have been a source of encouragement to my students as well as providing me with proven study techniques. I graduated with high honors with an AA in Liberal Studies and an AA in Science and Quantitative Reasoning and am currently a junior at UC Davis studying Human Development towards earning my special education teaching credential.

I communicate with each student and parent to determine the most effective way to help my pupil meet their educational goals. Then I can either work with a student's current classwork to provide a starting point for a deeper, more thorough understanding of the subjects, or I can create a unique curriculum based on the specific goals and needs of the client. In this way I help to enrich each pupils learning experience.

I am flexible with study locations and times, willing to meet with students in their own homes, at the local library, or wherever is most convenient and conducive to learning. As it is my joy and passion to see each student's progress and achievements, I maintain a high standard for myself, continually adding to my education and skills as a tutor, teacher and life-long learner. I am always appreciative of feedback. I value transparency and open communication with my students.

In my free time I enjoy being out-of-doors, gardening, bike riding, camping, amateur astronomy, rock collecting, and generally exploring the world around us. I especially enjoy doing these activities with my friends and family, together feeding our curiosity and creativity. I also like reading and watching mystery and science fiction. I have traveled extensively, visiting four continents and innumerable countries within them, learning from other cultures and absorbing what I value in their perspective and lifestyles.

I look forward to hearing from you and working together to provide an enriching educational experience.
