I am a mechanical engineer by trade, receiving a BS and BA from Louisiana State University and an MS from Georgia Tech. After graduating, I did design work by modifying the primary and secondary structure of large military jets for communications and weapons upgrades. I left that job to teach in the Dallas Independent School District, being certified in mathematics 4-8 and 8-12 as well as a supplemental ESL certification. My second and third years in with Dallas ISD, I taught pre-engineering courses. In these classes, students learned 3-D modeling as well as drafting, robotics programming in C++, as well as applied physics. I have worked with students of all background and pride myself on not only teaching testing strategies, but new ways to think: an engineering education does not teach you how to "fix stuff," but rather teaches the willing student how to approach problems in a systematic way. I feel that this approach can be successfully applied to many pursuits outside of the technical world and am happy to tutor in written work as well as analytical work. Outside of work, I enjoy science fiction and fantasy RPGs, comics, and reading.
