I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Philosophy. I will complete my Master of Arts in English Education from Brooklyn College in June 2014. Currently, I teach 9th- and 10th-grade English at a small high school in Brooklyn, where I work intensively with my students to raise achievement in reading comprehension, writing skills, and critical thinking. My proven track record of success includes improved scores on the ELA Regents exam and on the Critical Reading and Writing sections of the SAT. While working with students, I carefully assess individual strengths and weaknesses to craft a personalized plan of action. I tutor a wide range of subjects and skill levels, including gifted and special education. I believe that all students are capable of not only succeeding but excelling, and I strive to bring out the inner scholar in each and every person with whom I work. When I'm not teaching or tutoring, you can find me with my nose in a book (currently The Known World by Edward Jones), stretching at a yoga class, hiking with my dog, or penciling in a crossword puzzle.
