In May 2014, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences. I have tutored throughout college mainly in writing courses, public speaking courses, and science courses. While I tutor a broad range of subjects (Algebra, Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Essay Writing and Editing, Organic Chemistry and Public Speaking), I am most passionate about Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, and Public Speaking. Knowledge of topics such as Anatomy & Physiology and Biology, have been absolutely critical in understanding how animals (including humans) function on individual levels. My experience in Public Speaking has allowed me to effectively communicate this information to others. I have been fortunate enough to tutor other students in science and math related areas since 2005 and have a “new-age” approach to tutoring: intensive use of images and videos. Many of us have already become attached to the internet, so why not use it to our advantage? When pictures and videos can be accompanied by words, students are no longer mundanely memorizing information from a textbook, but they are seeing and hearing why this topic is important. While I understand that memorization is still a necessary part of any subject, I encourage students to think about why they are memorizing information in order for it to remain in their long-term memory. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy hanging out with my dog and cat, reading, taking photographs, and biking.
