### Thomas

I graduated in 2013 from Virginia Tech with a B.S. In Mechanical Engineering and a concentration in Nuclear Engineering. For over four years I tutored at the Math Emporium for the VT Math department tutoring calculus, linear algebra, vector geometry and differential equations. During that time, I also tutored privately on the side for chemistry and high level physics. Calculus is my favorite subject to tutor because of its practicality. I find it fascinating that the real-world applications of calculus are endless.

I understand how math and science can be intimidating for students. I remember taking algebra in 8th grade and feeling overwhelmed at first, so I can relate to how students feel. I feel that it is my responsibility as a tutor to understand why a student is having trouble with a certain subject, and then find ways to explain concepts using simple, real-world analogies. In my spare time I like to watch movies, mysteries in particular. I also enjoy customizing and developing my Android devices.
