I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in English and History from Stony Brook University, where I specialized in education in order to obtain a secondary teaching certification in English Language Arts. I am currently planning on attending graduate school in the fall, and I am excited for the possibilities that will bring. In the past, I worked as a student teacher at Half Hollow Hills Central School District in Dix Hills, NY, where I taught 7th, 9th, and 11th grade Common Core English classes, tutored at the Stony Brook University Writing Center, and worked as a teaching assistant for two college English classes. I later worked as an educator at both the Long Island Aquarium and the Long Island Museum.
I am available for tutoring various English-related subjects, ranging from English to writing to grammar. This includes preparation for the Regents, SAT II, SAT, GRE, and AP exams. Writing in all its forms is my favorite topic to tutor; I feel communication is key in all fields and is something all students should strive to feel comfortable with. This includes not just writing for English classes, but also writing in all subjects and personal statements for college and job applications. I am also available to tutor all aspects of the SAT, including math. Additionally, I can tutor American History at many levels, including preparation for the American History Regents.
I have always felt that the student should be the center of any tutoring session. I am flexible in my teaching style and willing to adjust my lessons in favor of each student’s unique needs. However, I prefer a visual approach to learning, focusing on using diagrams and graphic organizers to support problem-solving.
Outside of academics, I love to draw, write short fiction, and read fantasy novels. When I have the opportunity, I like to combine these interests together and create visual stories and worlds of my own.
