I graduated from UCLA, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. I have taught supplemental instruction classes at Glendale Community College in Calculus and Biology, worked as a Teaching Assistant for first year medical students in histology at Washington University in St Louis, and helped prepare students for standardized exams like the MCAT, GRE, and SAT, all exams of which I have personally taken and succeeded in. Additionally, I attended two years of medical school at the MD/PhD (MSTP) program at Washington University in St. Louis before deciding to change career paths, so I am quite familiar with the biological and health sciences as well. Now, I am more interested in the physical sciences and Oceanography. I'm also currently improving my Spanish because I hope to travel to many Latin American countries. I've recently enjoyed visiting Honduras, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and China, and I am excited to explore and learn more. In my free time I like to read psychology books, practice yoga, and play volleyball. I love playing and watching all sports from football to soccer to basketball to ping-pong. And of course, I love teaching. Time goes quickly when I teach because I really enjoy it and rarely do I ever regard teaching as "work." I enjoy helping students and find it rewarding when a student learns a new concept. From my experience, I know it is important for an instructor to be able to put himself in the student's shoes, know the academic history of the student, the concepts they may have recently learned, their goals and objectives, and their strengths and areas of improvement. Getting to know a student and his background is important because every individual is different and learns differently. There is not one general formula or agenda that works for everyone, and that is why I strongly believe one-on-one tutoring has the power to be highly effective.
