I attended Washington University in St. Louis where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology, as well as a minor in Writing. I have tutored in various subjects since I was in high school. Most recently, I served as a writing tutor in Washington Universitys Writing Center. Additionally, I tutored peers outside of the Writing Center in their writing intensive courses and have worked with high school students on preparing for standardized testing. Tutoring allows me to continue working with subjects I am interested in, including English Literature, Psychology, and perhaps most passionately, English Composition. I find that helping others to improve their writing, from assisting in generating ideas to expressing those ideas with clarity and organization, leads to an exciting opportunity to collaborate. As a tutor, I excel in connecting with my students and using my passion for the subjects I am teaching as a means of making learning more fun. Most importantly, my tutoring philosophy centers on teaching students to view their own work with a critical eye and on providing the tools necessary for the students to achieve change on their own. Whenever I can find a spare minute, I enjoy reading and writing, playing volleyball, and visiting cultural events around St. Louis.
