I graduated from the University of California, Davis with a double major in Comparative Literature and Italian, receiving academic distinction in both departments. I also studied at the University of Bologna with a merit scholarship from the UC's Education Abroad Program. As Academic Peer Advisor for the Italian Department, I tutored students of all levels in grammar, composition, and Italian culture, and tutored exchange students from Italy in English, translating as necessary. I have worked as a freelance writer and editor for such organizations as the San Diego Italian Film Festival and various travel blogs; I am a contributor to L'Italo-Americano, the Italian-American community newspaper, and have published poetry and short stories in several magazines. I am currently waiting to hear back from various MFA programs in creative writing.
I most enjoy tutoring history, especially European and 19th century American history -- as a writer I love a good story, and what better story is there than history? -- as well as "coaching" essay writing.
Outside of tutoring I enjoy sports, especially soccer and cycling, working outdoors (on farms and ranches), literary translation, slow food, and travel.
