I was raised in southern California all my life where I graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. I am currently in my last year in graduate school at UC Berkeley for my Doctor of Optometry degree. I have 5 years of tutoring experience starting from my senior year in high school and I have tutored students in Math, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, from elementary to college level courses.
My tutoring style is very student-oriented, where my main focus is what concepts the student is struggling the most with and break down complex ideas into simpler concepts. This skill has greatly helped me in my training in optometry school and is especially important when I am educating my patients about their eye health and medication. My tutoring philosophy revolves around helping the student develop critical thinking and logic instead of pure memorization. For me, this type of learning facilitates better content retention and serves as a great foundation of key concepts. In addition to the content that is being taught, I strive to establish a connection with each student to ensure he or she feels comfortable to express his or her questions and concerns.
In my spare time, I love to play basketball and ride my bicycle along Huntington Beach to Newport beach. I absolutely love the southern California atmosphere and its people and hope to work in a practice in Orange County next year once I receive my Doctor of Optometry degree.
