I am a recent graduate of University of California San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a Minor in International Studies. I plan to continue my studies by attending medical school to obtain my Doctor of Medicine. Since high school, I have been tutoring students from a variety of different backgrounds in many subjects. During high school, I volunteered as an ESL-tutor, teaching all high-school subjects from math to essay writing. Later, in college, I traveled abroad with a non-profit to Taiwan to teach a class of 20+ students ranging in age from seven to forty-two years old. For four weeks, I led this class as the sole English teacher, teaching grammar, vocabulary, essay-writing, and speaking skills. After returning from Taiwan, I joined the non-profit as Curriculum Director where I led the re-design of the program's English teaching curriculum and trained volunteers as teachers. I also served as a teaching assistant for UCSD Biological Sciences in Metabolic Biochemistry, an upper-division course. Moreover, as a peer-health educator for UCSD Student Health Services, I have trained incoming volunteers in health education and taught college-students in a variety of health topics. Finally, in my last research position at UCSD School of Medicine, I taught several incoming researchers in immunological, genetic, and biochemical theory as well as relevant applications.

I tutor a wide range of subjects including Physics, Math, Biology, English Reading and Writing, and more. While I have a background in many subjects, my favorite subjects to tutor are Biology and English. I enjoy teaching Biology not only because it is a subject which I am passionate about and have the strongest background in, but also because I love translating the biological world into terms more relevant to my students by using analogies and illustrations. I also enjoy teaching English because I've seen the enormous impact a strong English background can have on a student's overall confidence and success in school.

My teaching style reflects the skills I believe students need to succeed in school. For example, I emphasize problem solving and understanding the theory behind a problem rather than just rote memorization. I believe in teaching a student how to approach learning in a way that stays with them long after they are done with their course.

Outside of academia, I enjoy anything active such as playing soccer, long-distance running, and practicing yoga. When I'm not working or working out, I enjoy a good book or playing games with family and friends.
