I was certified as a language teacher by The University of Cambridge, England nearly 10 years ago, and I have been a language teacher for 14 years now. I cannot think of a job I enjoy doing more. Most of my practice has taken place abroad: in Mexico where I worked for two of the State’s most important Universities teaching TOEFL preparation and other English courses, as well as Spanish for non-native speakers, and in London where I worked as an ESL instructor for an International school. I currently work for a Spanish immersion school here in the city.
I believe that my greatest strength as a teacher is my ability to understand student’s learning needs and assist them in achieving as many of their goals as possible. I consider myself a person with great intrapersonal skills, this helps me connect better with my students and it helps makes the learning environment much more comfortable. I truly feel passionate about teaching languages because I consider language to be very similar to a key that can open many doors for a person; both professionally and personally.
I tutor ESL/ELL, Spanish, Spanish 1, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, Spanish 4, TOEFL, Grammar and Mechanics, Reading and Writing. I must admit my favorite subject is Grammar.
For leisure I like to listen to all kinds of music, especially folk, and I enjoy painting from time to time. When I lived in Mexico I took horseback riding lessons, so I try to do that as often as I can as well.
