I am currently attending Cal State LA University majoring in social work. I’ve been working with children all my life, and I have much experience teaching kids due to the fact that my mother is a Teacher's Aid. At a young age I would go with her to her job and teach the children there how to count. She is responsible for taking care of the young children while their parents take ESL classes. Additionally, in my middle school, I was a teacher assistant and would help teach English to young children with disabilities. As I tried to teach them new things I realized that they were not the only ones learning something - I learned that to be able to teach kids with needs I have to be patient and teach at their pace. I was able to cope with them easily and understand how they learned. I have also been a Catholic teacher for my neighborhood's church. I've taught children from ages 5 through 12 bible studies. I was able to answer their questions about God and able to reinforce the faith that they already had.
I have also had the privilege of working for the LAUSD where I did one-on-one tutoring with children. I was able to go to their houses and help them in the subject that they were having difficulties learning in. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy teaching children something new and being able to help them if they have difficulties understanding.
