I am a recent graduate of the University of California, San Diego where I gained dual degrees in Biology and Global Health. I am now taking time off before starting medical school (I'd eventually like to be a medical professor). My passion for tutoring started when I was in high school tutoring peers who were struggling in Algebra, Math, and the Sciences. In college I expanded my presentation skills as a student leader and campus tour guide. I now tutor students in Math, Biology, Spanish, and MCAT prep. My method as a tutor is informed by my experience in public speaking as well as peer-to-peer counseling. Through a student-centered approach to learning, I encourage my students to take charge of their learning as we work through examples together in one-on-one problem sets. My experience at the number one biology school in the country gives me the perfect background to introduce and expand students' skills in the sciences. I also led a group of students as part of a Global Health research project in Mexico, so my formal Spanish is strong. Through my time studying abroad in Madrid, Spain and Jalisco, Mexico I've also picked up colloquial Spanish. I invite you to join me for a tutoring session!
If you are an MCAT student, I can offer you the perspective of someone who has taken and done well on the MCAT. It is a very tough exam, but if you budget your time correctly and maintain your commitment to practice, you CAN score very high! I can also offer strategies and tips for applying to medical school since I am in that process right now!
