I graduated from film school at Loyola Marymount University, and then I got my MBA at the USC Marshall School of Business. I love helping people make their dreams come true, one step at a time. I have volunteered with the Young Storytellers Foundation through which I helped elementary school students create their first screenplays. I am also writing my third novel, which will be the beginning of an intergalactic sci-fi trilogy.

I tutor students on the GMAT--with a focus on the Writing, Reasoning, and Verbal sections. My favorite area of the exam is Sentence Correction, since grammar is one of my nerdy passions. I still love watching Schoolhouse Rock! and singing along with Conjunction Junction and A Noun is a Person, Place, or Thing.

Outside of the world of academia, my interests lean toward entertainment and fitness, often both at the same time. I like to listen to comedy podcasts like How Did This Get Made?, The Dork Forest, and Go Bayside!, while doing an Insanity workout or practicing yoga. I also enjoy creating quirky blog posts and playing Just Dance on the Wii.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Each person learns differently, so each student needs an individualized approach. Even if you're identical twins, what works for one person might not work for another.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

For the GMAT, GRE, SAT, and ACT, using test prep guides is the best way to get prepared for the exams. Since these guides have sample questions, they provide great examples of what to expect on exam day.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a typical first session, we talk about your goals and determine how we can work together to achieve them. We also work through some practice questions to see how we can adjust your approaches and create strategies for success.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I help students stay motivated by reminding them of the goal they want to achieve, whether it's getting into their top choice college or graduate school, or performing their best in a math or writing class. Commit to tutoring and studying, keep trying, and you'll get better.
