I am a graduate with a degree in French studies. I earned my BS at Sonoma State University. I started my passion with the French language and culture in high school. I took multiple French courses every year in high school. During college, I studied abroad and lived in Aix-en-Provence. My courses were taught entirely in French and not only consisted of grammar, but also the history, art, and literature of France. After graduating college, I became a substitute teacher and was the only one on file in my county that could sub for French classes. I also did one-on-one tutoring with the local high schools as well as the college I graduated from. I was also able to use my French speaking abilities with customers during many of my years in banking. In 2012, I moved back to Paris to attend the Academy of Paris to obtain my TEFL/TSOL certificate. During my stay in Paris, I was able to tutor the English language one-on-one with French natives. I enjoy teaching others the beautiful culture of France and understand how difficult it is to learn a new language. I also see the need for being able to speak and read more than one language in today's world. As everyone learns differently, I use multiple techniques in teaching the language to students of all ages. I like to have a lesson plan in place that consists of the student's current needs, which will be determined on our first visit and will continually grow as we move forward in our sessions. Most importantly, I like to have fun with it! When I am not working or tutoring, I love to go to the movies! I am a huge movie buff!! I also have a passion for music of all kinds; I have played the piano for over 15 years. I have traveled a lot around the world, and it is my life-long goal to retire in France and use my TEFL/TSOL certificate to earn a living. I am so excited to have the opportunity to show others the wonderful culture and language of France!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Every student learns differently, and every student has the ability to learn. It's all in the approach. On the style of learning, my goal is to help people grow and one day be able to teach others what they have learned.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would want to see where they are at, what they would like to focus on, and where they want to be. I also like to find out the best way the student learns so that I can use that in my sessions with them.
