I received a Bachelor of Science from Ball State University. I studied many subjects in preparation for the MCAT exam and Medical School and finished my undergraduate work with a major concentration in Chemistry and Pre-Medical Studies and a minor concentration in Biology. Although I am passionate about studying and tutoring all areas of Math, Science, and Literature, I believe Algebra and basic Chemistry form a strong foundation for anyone considering a career in science. Through my service with Americorps, in which I provided 300 hours of tutoring to the schools in my community, I found that many difficulties students have in math and science subjects stem from a misunderstanding of basic mathematics. I also found this to be true while I was employed as a tutor for Ball State University's Learning Center, especially with more advanced classes. I believe that the best tutoring sessions are those with great client-tutor communication. I always welcome feedback and ideas during sessions in order to mold the most effective tutoring strategy for the student. When I am not busy with work or studying, I enjoy bicycling, running, and most of all reading. I am the type of person that always has a book or two with them, and I make sure to include everything from non-fiction autobiographies to outlandish novels in my book collection.
