Firstly, all students can learn. All students have the ability to learn what education can not only help them achieve in society, but personally as well. Teaching is an endeavor designed to promote innovative, critical thinking through personal, emotional, and interdependent growth. Through teaching, I aim to show students their personal strengths through literacy and the power of the written word; I intend to help students realize that strengths are a separate entity from weaknesses. Through focusing my teaching on strength-based education by scaffolding curriculum to the individual, I will enlighten the importance of all kinds of education with respect and creativity. Also, using strength-based focus, I intend to promote diversity, global awareness, and citizenship. In order to accomplish the above goals, I must tap into students’ creativity and higher thinking by promoting questioning of texts and ideas and promoting different perspectives in a safe, welcoming environment. By leading my tutoring sessions with encouragement and flexibility, I will facilitate a critical thinking that will allow my clients to gain an awareness of their personal identities and their places in the world.

My philosophy of education includes a visually and mentally engaging environment. I strive to encourage the community and give them access to engage youth mentally, therefore creating a community that looks out for youth and each other. I seek to create interdependent relationships and unconditional respect among families by opening my professional position to parents and siblings. I promote critical thinkers who know how to ask questions and respect opinions. Creating this environment also means respecting the authentic motivation and hard work of my clients and their families.
