I am a graduate of the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. There I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Psychology. Since graduation I have become the Media Director for an international stock car racing tour, raced stock cars, and started a program called "Race to Read," which brings race car drivers into elementary schools around my region to inspire kids to read more books (4,000 books were read in the first summer of the program!) My passion lies mostly in creative writing, but any kind of writing is interesting to me. I believe that literacy is the most important tool in education today and without it, the future of the country is crippled to communicate with the world around them. I try to guide students to reach their own conclusions to improve their problem solving skills, as well as find ways to make all materials relate to that individual so that meaning and motivation is more clear. Whether you want to be the President, a plumber, a CEO, or a race car driver, literacy is key in every facet of what happens beyond the walls of school. In my spare time I have raced stock cars at a local track, love watching football on Sundays, writing stories and poems, and working with ceramics.
