After receiving a BS in Terrestrial Ecology from Western Washington University and a Masters in Environmental Studies from The Evergreen State College, I spent twenty years working as an Ecologist in a variety of technical positions. As a professional biologist, I have extensive experience mentoring high school and college students and college graduates entering the field. I taught Environmental Science at a private technical college in Sacramento. While a student at Western, I participated as a leader in a variety of childhood environmental education programming. I was Mr. Science for the YMCA Kindergarten Enrichment Program and coordinated field education programming, integrating grammar school, middle school, and high school students. I find life fascinating and enjoy helping others learn the complexities of the living world. My approach to helping students learn Biology and Environmental Science is to use diagrams to understand the complex vocabulary associated with the topic at hand. Through discussion and question and answer, I help learners comprehend the topic that they currently struggle with. I enjoy working with all age groups and look forward to working with you. I am also currently writing several novels and am taking creative writing classes at Berkeley Extension.
