I have a BA in English from Rice University and an MFA in Creative Writing: Poetry from the University of California at Irvine. During my time at UCI, I taught introductory composition courses as well as creative writing workshops. I know how hard the transition from high school to college level writing can be, and I'm here to help prepare for the rigors of college or to help adjust to the difficulties of catching up. I tutor a variety of academic subjects, including SAT, ACT, and GRE prep, as well as English, Literature, and Writing. Writing is my passion, and tutoring related to English is my forte. I was, however, the president of my high school science club and know my way around an equation.
I believe learning always goes better when the student can get excited about the material, and so I strive to tailor my tutoring style to each individual. I believe education is critical to personal success, and I try to teach my students better learning practices and intellectual curiosity so that they can take away something permanent from our interactions.
My main interest is Creative Writing. Poetry, fiction, and screenwriting are my passions. My favorite genre is science fiction. For the last three years, I've worked part-time as a script reader, which is by far the strangest job I've ever had. My other interests include video games, fashion, music, and graphic novels.
