I'm a 2013 graduate from Vanderbilt University with Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy. Although I am currently on hiatus from the academic world, I'm considering a return for studies in Computing. In high school, I got my first exposure to tutoring by helping my peers with the oftentimes challenging content of our AP Physics course. From there I took my experience to college, where I tutored student athletes in Calculus and Physics as an employee for the VU Athletics Department. I also worked with high school, middle school, and my fellow college students as a private Mathematics tutor. As you might have guessed, my favorite subjects to tutor are Physics and Mathematics, specifically Calculus. I enjoy working with students in these fields because of how the concepts and knowledge one gains from their study enriches one's understanding of the natural world. In addition, because they can be difficult to learn, it is very rewarding to see a student grasp the concepts and reach an aha" moment. My tutoring style is rather flexible in that I rely on a sturdy basis of conceptual understanding and from there cater to an individual student's needs. In Mathematics courses especially, there can be many ways of going about a problem, some of which may better suit one student than another. Outside of academia, my hobbies include playing and writing music, reading, writing, working out, and enjoying the great outdoors.
