I am currently a Ph.D. student in Counseling Psychology, as well as the Certificate program in Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation, at the University of Maryland, College Park. I received a B.A. at Lehigh University in Psychology and a M.S.Ed. at the University of Pennsylvania in counseling and psychological services.
I started tutoring because I love math and can't get enough of it. I love the feeling of solving problems and knowing how I got there. I love how math concepts are so applicable to every day life. I realize that many people don't feel the same way as I do. I love helping others learn and enjoy math at their pace, using whatever methods that most suit them. I try to incorporate my counseling psychology background to foster the most optimal environment for growth. It's more important that you "get it" conceptually than memorizing formulas.
I have experience in tutoring math (ranging from elementary math up to the GRE Quantitative section), as well as ESL during my year in Seoul, South Korea.
In the free time that I have, I love running, riding my bike, exploring different food finds, and catching up with friends. MD/DC/VA is rich in activities and things to do. I don't feel like I've even skimmed the surface since I moved here two years ago!
