I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in English Literature at the University of Arizona. I am now permanently residing in Norwalk, CA and working as a tutor both with Varsity Tutors and another tutoring company for whom I have worked since 2007. I have experience teaching composition at the university level, as well as tutoring high school students in all English subjects. My favorite subject is composition. I enjoy working with young writers through the PROCESS of composition, helping them gain confidence and competency through hands-on, individualized sessions. I also have extensive experience helping students prepare for standardized tests, especially the GRE (I specialize in the verbal sections only). I have been working as an SAT prep instructor for several years, and have been very successful at helping students improve their scores. Other subjects I enjoy teaching include literature, grammar, and reading comprehension. Originally a New York native, I moved to the LA area in 2006 to pursue my M.A.. I am currently married with a two year old daughter. I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring all of the wonderful, exciting cultural attractions and events that Los Angeles has to offer.
