Looking for individualized instruction that accommodates YOUR learning style? This type of tutoring is my specialty and my passion. As a teacher and educator with over 10 years of experience, it is my vision to help students excel in their education, which I support by coming up with creative strategies to motivate them. Together, we'll discover what engages and helps you learn the most, and I will adjust my instruction to fit your learning needs, whether its through a Socratic dialectic method or through vocabulary games. For example, this past year I linked students' knowledge of the Hunger Games to rigorous dystopian texts by Ray Bradbury. The students learned to analyze complex literary themes from the book to pop songs, and created essays and projects comparing dystopian fiction to our own society! I'll use any creative strategies you need to help motivate you in a similar way.

I have a Masters' in Education and a B.A in English, both from UCLA, which provided me with excellent strategies that I have used in the classroom, teaching both public and private school. I've worked with students who are gifted, students who are English learners, students with special needs, and students that appear "average" but really just need an extra boost of individual support to excel!

My favorite subject is English literature--and grammar, essay writing, critical reading--anything that has to do with the English language, in fact! I have tutored K-8 ELA and 9th-12th grade students in all arenas, from British and American Lit to AP English. Whether you are looking for help with learning grammar or writing a college application for an Ivy League college, I'm prepared to offer proven strategies and support. Though I love literature, I also often enjoy math for its sheer logic. I have over seven years experience tutoring K-8 math, as well as upper classes including Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry.

The final area that most students seek help from me is SAT prep. Having scored very well on the SAT, in addition to taking SAT classes when I was a student, allows me to not only help students improve on excelling in the SAT tests, but allows me to relate with students personally as I give my own experience in taking the tests. You'll take real practice tests from Collegeboard, and learn proven strategies and study skills to improve your scores.

In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer or exploring the great city of LA--though I've lived here all my life, I'm always discovering new places to visit. I also enjoy reading, camping, writing, teaching my sisters how to cook, and playing music. Music is a great way to relax, which is why I also teach piano and violin to newly budding composers and rockstars. I guess I can't stop helping others learn, even during my free time!
