I’m a nonprofit professional who has tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and university students since I was in college. I tutor a variety of subjects in the social sciences and humanities – including History, English, and Psychology, to name a few. My experience includes years of working with children and young adults on reading, comprehension and phonics, writing and essay preparation from research papers to college admission essays. I also spent many years supporting students in the improvement of study skills, organization and time management. Since I am fluent in two languages and studied a variety of different languages in the past, I like to tutor languages, including English as a Second Language (ESL). My approach to teaching anything is to provide a practical/relevant perspective on the subject so that the student can see how useful it is in everyday life and grow to gradually appreciate it.
As a volunteer, I mentor first generation college students in everything from the university application process to skills that ensure that the transition from high school to college is as smooth as possible.
In my free time I enjoy traveling, exploring places locally, reading, spending time with my family, and continuously learning new things along the way.
