I’m finishing up my PhD in Environmental Studies, where I have spent the last few years living and working with potato farmers in the Venezuelan Andes on ways to develop sustainable farming systems. I have also spent the last few years teaching and tutoring undergraduates, farmers, and K-6 students in the U.S. and abroad on a variety of subjects from Ecology to Environmental Economics to basic arithmetic to integrated pest management. I’m a strong believer in the scientific approach to teaching and, as such, like to use interactive activities that promote making observations, proposing questions, identifying problems, generating hypotheses, and engineering experiments that test these questions. I use this approach in tutoring Biology, Math, Environmental Sciences, Statistics, Ecology, Entomology, Reading and Writing proficiency, and Spanish. I’m looking forward to helping and working with students as they move forward with their academic endeavors!
