I am a recent graduate from UC Berkeley, where I majored in Anthropology. Halfway through college, I thought: Hey, maybe someday I want to be a medical doctor. So I began taking pre-med requirements. As a humanities and social sciences student up to that point, math and science classes did not come easily to me. I had to re-learn how to study. I discovered I love the process of learning, whether it's Cultural anthropology or Chemistry, Philosophy or Physics.
As a tutor, I seek to instill in students drive, self-confidence, and an excitement about learning so they can conquer any subject, no matter how daunting. I also coach students on learning techniques and ways to relieve academic stress, because stress can be counterproductive and just isn't fun!
I have worked with students from all walks of life: from elementary school kids in math and science, to high school boys in Juvenile Hall in writing and reading, to adult learners in math and science. I can tutor math up to Pre-Calculus, Physics, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, Essay Writing, various Humanities courses, and Reading Comprehension.
When not working or studying, you will find me outside running, biking, climbing, surfing, or gardening. I'm also passionate about my volunteer job as a lay medic at the Berkeley Free Clinic.
