I have 20+ years of tutoring/teaching experience and have worked with a wide range of students from high need to low need, middle school to adult. I am an excellent tutor because I care about what and how the student knows what they know. It is one thing to have the right answer but it is altogether something else for them to know why they know the answer. I am aware of the various students learning levels and their learning style, which will only improve my ability to tutor.
I have found I truly love to help my students succeed in any way that I can. I truly believe that anyone can understand math and science. In fact, math and science are perfectly intuitive and logical, as long as it is explained well!
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my dog and quilting. Currently, I spend a few hours a week learning Biblical Hebrew and will start Biblical Greek within a year or so.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I am a strong believer that mathematics and/or science are not spectator sports. One must do to learn. I really try to lay off and give hints only when absolutely needed.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

First, what exactly is needed? Second, what exactly is wanted? Third, start activity and just listen to the student.
